Two charged with burglarizing alleged meth house in Fargo
According to court documents filed Friday in Cass County District Court, a neighbor called police about 11:23 p.m. Thursday to report a burglary in progress at 3510 Kelly St.
A man had busted in the mobile home door and was loading property into a parked black GMC SUV out front, the neighbor told dispatch.
According to the police report, officers saw the mobile home had been “trashed” when they arrived at the scene. The door was open, with broken glass on the deck and items strewn about in the living room, bedroom and kitchen.
Placards had been placed on the mobile home indicating a chemical lab had been discovered, and to stay out.
After officers repeatedly identified themselves, the report says, a man and then a woman came out. The woman was carrying a silver purse.
The man, Matthew Peterson, told police he had just met the woman through Facebook, and had given her a ride to get her things from where she had lived with an ex-boyfriend.
The woman, Hannah Johnson, had “gone nuts” in the trailer, said Peterson, ripping down paneling and digging into a utility box looking for things of value to take.
Peterson admitted to police he had taken a heavy-duty trailer hitch for himself that the woman said he could have.
Johnson was interviewed by police and told them she went to the trailer with Johnson to get some of her clothes.
Fargo police Officer Charles Sullivan told Johnson he had spoken with the trailer’s resident, who told him she had no belongings in there and no permission to be there.
The police report says Johnson admitted she hadn’t spoken with the trailer’s owner, and did not have permission to be there. She denied tearing apart the trailer’s paneling.
A search of the SUV allegedly revealed items taken from the trailer, as well as a used syringe, a spoon with residue and a cotton ball inside Johnson’s purse.
Johnson, 24, of Fargo was charged Friday in Cass County District Court with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia, both Class C felonies.
Peterson, 28, of West Fargo was charged with one count of Class C felony burglary.
Their next court appearances are set for April 9 and 3, respectively.
