Minor derailment reported near CrookstonCROOKSTON, Minn. – A train has derailed 5 miles north of here near U.S. Highway 75.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, two BNSF Railway train cars derailed near Euclid.
BSNF spokeswoman Amy McBeth said despite derailing, the cars were still upright. One was carrying fiber board and the other was empty but is used to transport corn syrup or vegetable oil, she said.
McBeth described the incident as “very minor” and said it would be taken care of quickly once equipment to put the cars back on the track arrived.
A detour was set up for traffic in the area of 207th Avenue Southwest and 140th Street Southwest.
