Man arrested after Grand Forks woman wakes up, finds intruder in bedroom
Jeremiah Begay, described as a transient construction worker from Pinon, Ariz., was arrested after police responded to a call at 2:58 a.m. Monday about a reported burglary in the 500 block of North 25th Street in Grand Forks, according to a news release from Grand Forks Police Department.
According to the report, a female victim had awoken in her apartment to find an unknown male pulling down her underwear. She was able to immediately flee from the residence and call police.
Begay is facing charges of burglary, sexual assault and minor consumption of alcohol. He was taken to Grand Forks County Correctional Center, according to the report.
The victim was not physically injured in the incident, according to police.
The police department issued a reminder to residents that while such incidents are rare, they do occur, and that doors and windows should be locked.
