Weather Talk: Snowfall this season has come in small dosesOne year ago today, the area had 16 inches of packed, moisture-heavy snow on the ground following six weeks of cold and stormy weather. We had already received 42 inches of snowfall and had another 26 inches to go.
This winter has delivered 29 inches of snow so far, but most of it has come in very small doses. The closest thing we have had to a snowstorm was when about 8 inches fell over the first five days of December.
What snow has fallen this winter has hardly melted and has been blown around and air-lifted frequently by the many cold and windy days we have endured. But if we can avoid any big, wet spring snowstorms, this winter season will be remembered as one with many blizzards but no snowstorms.
