Travel alert issued for Fargo, Casselton, Hillsboro areasFARGO — State officials in Minnesota and North Dakota are warning motorists about icy roads throughout the region tonight.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports strong winds creating icy patches on highways in Clay and Wilkin counties, and parts of Becker, Mahnomen and Otter Tail counties.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol issued a travel alert for Fargo, Casselton, Hillsboro, and the surrounding areas including Interstate 94 west and Interstate-29 north of Fargo due to scattered snow drifts, blowing snow and ice.
A travel alert means motorists can still travel, but road conditions are challenging. The highway patrol encourages drivers to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.
A travel alert is also in effect for Minot, Devil’s Lake and Grand Forks.
