Minot Republican joins race for US House seat

MINOT, N.D. – A Minot Republican said Tuesday he will seek the party’s endorsement in the race for North Dakota’s lone U.S. House seat.

DuWayne Hendrickson ran unsuccessfully as a write-in candidate in the 2010 and 2012 House races and also ran as an independent in the 2008 gubernatorial election.

“In my political party, we have problems both with national and statewide GOP party people, whether it be integrity morals or just plain stupidity,” Hendrickson wrote in an email announcing his candidacy. “We have to rebuild our party to one of what I believe is the greatest.”

The House seat is currently held by Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer, who plans to seek the party’s endorsement at its state convention April 4-6 in Minot.

Libertarian Party candidate Jack Seaman also is running for the House seat.

The state Democratic-NPL Party has no announced candidate yet.
