Forum editorial: Bluestem contract good newsA three-year contract between Fargo schools and a promoter to bring entertainment to the Bluestem Center for the Arts is good news for the center, the schools and for folks who like to attend good programs.
Jade Presents, a Fargo-based promoter with an excellent record of booking high-quality entertainment, signed an exclusive agreement with Fargo Public Schools. The accord not only will ensure a variety of programming at the south Moorhead center but also lends a needed measure of stability to the schedule. It’s not always been smooth sailing for the center and Trollwood Performing Arts School, which calls the center home. Provisions of the Jade contract seem to make the necessary accommodations so that Trollwood can produce its iconic summer show within the scheduling requirements for Jade’s presentations.
The Imagine Amphitheatre at Bluestem is one of the most impressive outdoor stages in the Midwest. It’s in an idyllic setting near the Red River, accented by the beautiful buildings of the center and other amenities, such as walking paths and practice stages. Bluestem’s original vision was to be the new home of Trollwood and an expanded regional arts education and performance school – and a destination for meetings, conferences and private events. The Jade/school contract suggests the vision is being realized.
That’s good news for Moorhead, which can rightfully boast of hosting one of most attractive arts centers in the region. And it’s good news for all who value arts education and diversity of performance.
