Weekend Watch: Luke Bryan brings spring break to Fargo
The country singer brings his rolling spring break party to the Fargodome for a nearly sold-out show Friday night.
In addition to releasing an album every 18 months or so, Bryan has been pretty consistent about releasing special spring break-theme EPs every year. The latest installment, “Like We Ain’t Ever” comes out in two weeks, but he may preview a tune or two on Friday.
Of course, he has plenty of album tracks to choose from. Since making his debut in 2007 with “All My Friends Say,” Bryan has landed a stream of 11 top 10 singles, six of which went to no. 1. (The 12th will likely be “Play it Again,” which he’ll soon release as a single.) And most of those songs are about partying.
Bryan is touring behind last year’s platinum-selling “Crash My Party,” which featured the eponymous hit single and “That’s My Kind of Night.” Even the album’s somber track about losing a friend is about sipping a cold one, with “Drink a Beer.” In fact, Bryan doesn’t seem to sing about falling in love (“Drunk on You”) or making love (“Rain is a Good Thing”) without a little boozing.
Then again, what country crowd doesn’t appreciate a bunch of drinking songs? Add in Bryan’s mega-hit, “Country Girl (Shake it for Me)” and the Fargodome just might look more like Fort Lauderdale – at least if you’re wearing beer goggles – come Friday night.
