Carlson announces re-election bid for District 41 seat

FARGO - House Majority Leader Rep. Al Carlson of Fargo announced Wednesday he will seek re-election to the North Dakota House of Representatives representing District 41.

First elected to the District 41 seat in 1992, Carlson has served on several committees, including Appropriations, Industry, Business and Labor, Finance and Taxation, Energy and Natural Resources, and Transportation.

Carlson has served as North Dakota House majority leader for the past three legislative sessions.

“We have accomplished a great deal in the Legislature, including record investments in education and infrastructure needs statewide, as well as lowering property taxes and reducing the rates on personal and corporate income taxes,” Carlson said in a statement. He noted another important achievement was the 2013 Legislative Assembly’s approval of $450 million to help fund Fargo and Cass County flood protection.

Carlson and his wife, Sharon, own Carlson Construction in Fargo. They have three children and ten grandchildren.
