Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks sign utility player Newton

FARGO – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks acquired Brandon Newton, the American Association baseball team announced Tuesday.

Newtown, who can play both infield and outfield, split the 2013 season between the Newark Bears of the Can-Am League and the Rockford Aviators of the Frontier League during which he had a batting average of .272.

The 27-year-old previously played in the American Association in 2012 for the Sioux City Explorers.

Collectively in his four professional seasons Newton has batted .304 with 62 doubles and 223 runs scored in 334 games.
