Child brought airsoft pistol to Fargo schoolFARGO – A student at Centennial Elementary School ended up in the principal’s office after bringing an airsoft pistol to school Monday.
Jeff Schatz, superintendent of Fargo Public Schools, said Tuesday that the boy had played with the pistol over the weekend, then realized it was in his coat pocket after lunch and recess. The child then showed it to a friend.
The pistol was confiscated by the teacher and the child was brought to the principal, Schatz said.
The principal is in contact with the child’s family and will work with them to determine what consequences will come from the incident, Schatz said.
“There was absolutely no intent, or any harm,” he said.
Centennial parents were informed about the incident Monday afternoon through the district’s ConnectEd messaging system, Schatz said.
Airsoft pistols and guns fire small (6mm) round plastic pellets. They are often designed to look like real weapons.
