Style Profile: High school junior goes for hipster prep
The 17-year-old Davies High School junior favors a classic look with modern flair, often pairing skinny-legged chinos with a simple button-down shirt and printed bow tie.
I spotted Zastoupil at Josie’s Corner Café & Bake Shop here in a polished ensemble that exemplifies his “prepster” style.
Describe your style. I’m a prepster – it’s a mix of the preppy and hipster looks.
What are you wearing today? A Ralph Lauren tweed vest, an H&M shirt, Pierrepont Hicks bow tie, Gap chinos and Steve Madden oxfords.
Where do you shop? J. Crew, Gap, H&M and Banana Republic.
What are your favorite things in your closet? My bow ties and vests.
What inspires your style? I get a lot of inspiration from the catalogues/magazines sent out by companies like J. Crew. I also like to look on the store websites.
How do you decide what to wear? I usually start by choosing a color that I think I’ll enjoy that day.
What’s your style philosophy? Keep it clean and classy. I don’t wear too many patterns, and I like neutral colors.
What would you never wear? Sweatpants. I have one pair that are strictly for wearing to and from soccer practice.
Once spring comes, what are you looking forward to wearing? My Sperrys (boat shoes) and embroidered shorts. I have a gray pair that has white sunglasses embroidered on them.
When was your last vacation and where did you go? I went to Maui last year. I loved it all – the smells, the weather and eating by the ocean.
Why do you take the time to dress up every day? If you’re dressed nicely, people will have a good impression of you. Dress the way you want other people to view you.
You told me you’re in Science Olympiad. What’s the craziest science fact you know? There are 6.02 x 1023 particles in one mole of a substance.
