Review: Paper - your personal digital magazine

Paper is the new Flipboard, but better.

The free app for iOS has a sleek interactive design that makes you feel like you’re flipping through your own personal digital magazine, and you truly are.

The app connects to users’ Facebook accounts and displays their newsfeed as pages of a digital magazine or newspaper. Users are then able to add as many as nine other sections, such as headlines, home and tech, to their newspaper based on their interests.

The sections pull from celebrity, magazine and newspaper Facebook pages to give users trending photos and articles. The app even offers just-for-fun sections titled LOL and Cute, which include many BuzzFeed-like posts.

From the home screen, users can easily flip from section to section and quickly scan through articles to find the ones they’re truly interested in. To read an article, they simply click or flick it upwards. When they’re done, they flick it back to the bottom of the screen or flip to the next article.

The app is designed by Facebook, so the two are truly connected. By that, I mean you’ll no longer need a separate Facebook app. Paper allows users to access their newsfeed; view their notifications; chat through a built-in messenger; post, comment and share any article; and so much more. It’s like the app is built right inside of Facebook, or vice versa.

My favorite part of Paper, though, is just how it’s all put together. I love the design and aesthetic of the app.

Paper is Flipboard, Facebook, Messenger and Buzzfeed all in one. So, if you’re looking for a way to simplify your home screen, download Paper. You won’t regret it.
