Duluth police seek 6 men involved in carjacking

DULUTH, Minn. – Duluth police are seeking six men involved in a Monday evening carjacking. A 34-year-old man was pulled from his car and beaten during the incident, requiring hospitalization, police said.

The man drove up to a friend’s residence shortly after 9 p.m. when six men came out of the residence and approached the car. One suspect opened the passenger door and pointed a handgun at the victim while the other five pulled him from the car and started punching him, police said.

The suspect with the gun came over and started hitting the man with the butt of the gun, took his wallet and drove off with the victim’s car, police said. The other suspects left on foot.

The victim was taken to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released his name. Officers located his car, a 1992 Subaru, unoccupied just after midnight.

Police said the victim was known to the suspect with the gun, who police said is a 17-year-old male.
