Bell State Bank opens new lobby at downtown Fargo branch
Bell State Bank purchased the building in 2012, and since January 2013 operated out of a temporary space on the third floor.
Alerus Financial had been located on the main floor of the building, and moved last March into 51 Broadway, the former downtown home of Bell State Bank.
In addition to the main floor lobby, drive-up services are now available on the south side of Bell State Bank.
Finishing the remodeling project completes the transition of the retail banking operations.
“It opens up another opportunity for clients to utilize this full-service location,” said Cheryl Stock, vice president and branch manager. “It’s a fresh, new look downtown.”
The newly remodeled lobby space in the 1926 building includes a water wall feature and glass-walled offices. A four-sided stone fireplace is under construction near its east entrance.
Bell State Bank’s wealth management division is also moving into 15 Broadway. They had been scattered at several locations.
Some employees started in main floor offices Monday, said Joel Thomsen, executive vice president of wealth management.
“The downtown location is going to be where all of wealth management will be centralized in the near future,” Thomsen said. “We’re going to be the place you come for your investments.”
The wealth management division, which includes trust, brokerage, asset management and retirement, will be on the main and fourth floors by this summer, Thomsen said.
Bell State Bank had hoped to be settled in the new spaces by mid-2013.
Open house events will be held this spring, Stock said.
“We are so excited for our customers to have the added convenience of being on the first floor,” she said. “We appreciate their patience for the time it took to complete this remodel.”
