Germaine's game-winner sparks Mavericks past UND

GRAND FORKS – Minnesota State-Mankato’s Nicole Germaine scored the game-winning goal 16 minutes, 30 seconds into the third period to lift her team to a 2-1 win over North Dakota in women’s Western Collegiate Hockey Association play Sunday.

The Mavericks’ Kari Lundberg knotted the game up on a power-play goal at 11:44 of the third period.

Megan Dufault started the scoring for UND (17-9-4, 14-8-4 WCHA) in the first period.

FIRST PERIOD: 1, UND, Dufault (Marvin, Jakobsen), 5:40.

SECOND PERIOD: No scoring.

THIRD PERIOD: 2, MSU, Lundberg (Barnes, Rogan), 11:44 (pp). 3, MSU, Germaine (McCann, Fiegert), 16:30.
