Letter: Graphic details aren’t necessaryThe Forum editorial staff and reporter Emily Welker need to scale back some of the information on crime stories. I know Welker is an “investigative reporter” and is just “doing her job,” but do we really need to know the profane criminal complaints from a sexual assault in an area high school? Aren’t the official charges enough to get the point across that the police are investigating a repugnant act of assault?
I would think most readers understand what falls in the categories of sexual assault, gross sexual imposition, etc. The graphic details do us readers no good, and do not help the victims involved. We understand it is free press, and all of it is public, but have some respect, and if people are really that interested, they will go get their own copies of the police and court reports.
Focus your “investigative reporting” on stories that matter, not just to sell papers and online subscriptions.
