Letter: Taxpayers to pay for family’s greed

Are you kidding me? I read in The Forum where David Midstokke had filed an emergency petition to freeze his mother, Sherry Midstokke’s, assets and she was appalled that Judge Steven Marquart granted her son’s petition. Now I read that she had assets of more than $2.3 million. Now she will qualify for a court-appointed attorney because her family members believe taxpayers should foot the bill for her.

I do understand that what the family is going through is tragic, and I cannot even imagine what all this would feel like. But I do know if I were a greedy family member and believed I deserved that money and have the people of the state foot the bill, I would be hanging my head in shame. What type of person going through all this tragedy would even think of the money?

Well, taxpayers, when you are paying more taxes, think of these adult children enjoying their assets. Things like this need to be changed and should be.
