41-year-old man killed when snowmobile hits stumpMONTEVIDEO, Minn. — A 41-year-old man was killed Thursday evening in a snowmobile crash on the Minnesota River between Montevideo and Wegdahl.
A news release from Chippewa County Sheriff Stacy Tufto said the crash was reported around 8:45 p.m. The man was traveling northwest on the river toward Montevideo when his snowmobile struck a tree stump protruding from the ice.
The man lost control of his snowmobile and was thrown from it. He was taken by ambulance to Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital and was pronounced dead.
