WDAZ anchor resigns, email said it was 'effective immediately'

GRAND FORKS - Rob Hudson, an anchor at WDAZ TV, has resigned from his job at the Grand Forks-based station a little more than a year after he began there.

The station manager, Rob Horken, said he received an email from Hudson on Monday that said “effective immediately, I resign from my position as news anchor and producer at WDAZ.”

Horken said he replied that he accepted the resignation.

Asked if Hudson indicated a reason for quitting, Horken said all he got was the notice of the resignation.

WDAZ now begins a national search for a new anchor for the 6 and 10 p.m. newscast, which Horken said takes two weeks to a month.

Hudson is an Elk River, Minn., native who worked in four states before joining WDAZ in August 2012. He replaces Charley Johnson, who left WDAZ in May 2012 to become president of the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitors Bureau.

WDAZ is owned by Forum Communications Co., which owns the Herald and The Forum.
