Moorhead approves two new private hangarsMOORHEAD – Two new private hangars will be built at the airport here.
On Monday, the City Council approved leasing land to two developers who plan to build private hangars.
Marvin Fletcher plans to build an 9,600-square-foot private hangar with a 2,000-square-foot office building.
Kevin Dahl plans to build a 7,040-square-foot private hangar.
Kristie Leshovsky, city planner, said there are about 6,000 annual flights in and out of the Moorhead Municipal Airport, where there are 34 publicly leased hangars and four private operations.
Councilman Mike Hulett said the council should consider bonding to construct more hangars, then use rental money to pay back the bonds.
“There are a lot of people that would like to keep their planes out there, and we don’t have the hangar space,” Hulett said.
