Capitals snag victory over Jets

WASHINGTON – Before Thursday night’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin said his team had to win their final two games before the Olympics and go into the break “with smiles on our faces.”

The 28-year-old right winger backed up his words by scoring the game-winning goal with 7 minutes, 46 seconds gone in the third period to lead the Capitals a 4-2 win over the Jets at the Verizon Center.
