1964 Cobbers football team earns awardMOORHEAD – The 1964 Concordia football team, which won the NAIA national championship, will celebrate its 50th anniversary by receiving the Murray Warmath Legendary Team Award.
The honor is given out by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. The 1964 team will be recognized at an awards event, presented by the Minnesota Vikings, on May 4 in Minneapolis.
The team finished the 1964 season with a 10-0-1 record led by legendary Cobbers head coach Jake Christiansen.
Concordia tied Sam Houston State 7-7 in the 1964 title game, but the Cobbers earned a No. 1 ranking in the final NAIA ratings.
