Moorhead company plans to relocate headquarters to West Fargo

WEST FARGO – A Moorhead-based electric company that has staff in western North Dakota plans to move its headquarters to West Fargo.

Magnum Electric wants to move from 1810 23rd St. S. in Moorhead to a new 4.25-acre site at 471 Christianson Drive W. in West Fargo.

The company proposes to build a 6,200-square-foot office building and a 1,200-square-foot metal warehouse in the Christians First Addition area.

The company began in Minnesota in 1989 and specializes in electrical services for residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Magnum Electric employs about 150 part-time and full-time staff who work throughout the region, said Matthew Marshall, West Fargo director of economic development and community services. He said 60 people are employed at the company’s headquarters and additional staff work in Bismarck and Dickinson, N.D.

Marshall said many of the Dickinson employees actually live in West Fargo and commute to the western North Dakota city for work.

Magnum pays an average salary of $50,000 per year, Marshall said.

The City Commission approved Magnum Electric’s application for a five-year tax incentive program on Monday night. The tax incentive is expected to save the company an estimated $149,000 over the five years.

Construction on the new site is slated to begin in April.
