Hires and promotions (Feb. 1)Hafner hired as retail sales agronomist
Devan Hafner has joined Peterson Farms Seed as a retail sales agronomist at the company’s office in Hunter, N.D.
Hafner was raised on his family’s farm near Sykeston, N.D. He interned with Peterson Farms Seed for two years as a research and sales agronomist. He also was previously employed by the North Dakota State University Research Extension Centers in Carrington and Fargo.
He graduated from NDSU with a degree in crop and weed science and a minor in soil science.
Stoneridge Software promotes 3, hires 3
Stoneridge Software, Fargo, has promoted Catherine McDade to technical architect and Tom Branca and Ryan Kleven to solution architects. The company has also hired Bill Thompson as a senior developer, Robert Mountain as a senior functional consultant and Judy Shulstad as an accountant.
McDade has focused on installation, configuration and security and data migrations for the last year at Stoneridge Software. His previous employment includes more than 11 years at Microsoft in Fargo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer systems management from the University of Minnesota, Morris.
Branca has been a software consultant, focusing on the professional services area at Stoneridge Software for the past year. Previous employment includes five years at Microsoft in Fargo. Branca is a Bismarck native and a North Dakota State University graduate with a degree in business administration and management information systems.
Kleven has been a software consultant specializing in financials at Stoneridge Software. His prior employment includes seven years at Microsoft in Fargo. Kleven is originally from Crookston, Minn. and he has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Thompson has 11 years of experience as a developer with Microsoft in Fargo. He graduated from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Mountain is a software consultant with specialization in finance and professional services. He was previously employed for five years at Microsoft in Fargo and spent 20 years in the banking industry.
Shulstad is responsible for overseeing company finances, billing, payroll and assisting in human resources. Shulstad has served in a variety of accounting roles over the last 20 years including recent employment with Spider and Co., The Partner Channel and Studio Multimedia. She has a degree in marketing and business from Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D.
Houston Engineering hires 2, promotes 1
Houston Engineering, Fargo, has hired Josh Barth as the information technology manager and Patrick Johanneck as a civil technician. Nate Rust has been promoted to full-time survey technician,
Barth is a native of Moorhead and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems. He previously worked at Ulteig in Fargo as senior server administrator.
Johanneck is a native of Red Lake Falls, Minn., and graduated from St. Cloud (Minn.) State University with a bachelor’s degree in land surveying and mapping science. He previously interned at Houston Engineering in the Thief River Falls, Minn., and Fargo offices.
Rust is a native of Sawyer, N.D., and he attended North Dakota State University. He previously worked as an insurance salesman.
Pederson, Mbaabu join Nokomis Child Care
Nokomis Child Care in Fargo has hired Hannah Pederson as a lead teacher and Kristee Mbaabu as a float teacher, both at Nokomis I.
Pederson received a bachelor’s degree in human development and family science, with a minor in women and gender studies at North Dakota State University. She previously completed an internship with the Village’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program. She is previously from Menahga, Minn., and has experience working with infants and toddlers with Early Years Enrichment Center, Moorhead.
Mbaabu previously worked with AmeriCorps at the YMCA. She attended school in Thief River Falls, Minn., with a focus on early childhood.
Two new chiropractors join West Fargo clinic
Aimee (McEwen) Marz and Lucas Marz have joined The Clinic Family Health and Sports Chiropractic, 1207 Prairie Parkway, West Fargo.
Aimee and Lucas both graduated in November from Northwestern Health Sciences University with doctor of chiropractic degrees.
Aimee is a graduate of West Fargo High School and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She also is a coach for Just For Kix in West Fargo.
Lucas graduated from Springfield (Minn.) High School and he attended South Dakota State University, Brookings.
Both plan to incorporate sports injuries and acupuncture into their chiropractic practices.
James named LARL marketing coordinator
Sarah James has joined the Lake Agassiz Regional Library as marketing coordinator at the regional office in Moorhead.
She has lived in Fargo for seven years, working in communications, marketing and development.
James graduated from Valley City (N.D.) State University. She was previously employed by Stockmen’s Supply, West Fargo.
Eight staff join Eide Bailly’s Fargo office
Eide Bailly has hired Austin Formo and Brady Meyers as tax associates and Brittny Burns, Kelsie DeBroeck, Ethan Frank, Jarrett Galbreath, John Peterson and Nikola Todorovic as audit associates. All will work in the firm’s Fargo office.
Formo has a degree in accounting from North Dakota State University.
Meyers is a graduate of NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in accountancy. He previously interned at Eide Bailly in 2013 and is currently working toward becoming a CPA.
Burns is a graduate of NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
DeBroeck attended Wenatchee (Wash.) Valley College and Jamestown (N.D.) College where she earned an accounting degree.
Frank has bachelor and master degrees in accounting from NDSU.
Galbreath has degrees in accountancy and investments from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.
Peterson is a graduate of NDSU with a degree in accounting and a minor in fraud investigation. Peterson currently serves in the North Dakota Army National Guard 191st Military Company.
Todorovic has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UND. He previously interned with Eide Bailly in spring of 2012.

Wanzek Construction, Fargo, has promoted Allison Paul to senior accountant and Matthew Althoff to CSS manager, and has hired Craig Moseng as project manager and Amanda Paulson as accounting assistant.
Paul has been with Wanzek since 2008. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Althoff has been with Wanzek since 2008 and has bachelor degrees in accounting and finance from MSUM.
Moseng has 13 years of experience in the construction industry and was most recently employed as a project manager at Red River Electric. He has a journeyman electrician license in Minnesota and North Dakota.
Paulson has five years of accounting experience and was previously employed as an office assistant for Aarsvold Farms Inc. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mayville (N.D.) State University.
Engstrom promoted to mortgage loan officer
Kelly Engstrom has been promoted to mortgage loan officer at Western State Bank, Fargo. She was previously a mortgage loan processor at Western and was also a mortgage loan processor for three years at Cornerstone Bank, Fargo.
Originally from Cavalier, N.D., Engstrom earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with specializations in finance, management, marketing and real estate from Mayville (N.D.) State University.
Sullivan joins Ulteig marketing department
Katie Sullivan has joined Ulteig as a marketing communications specialist. She will work at the company headquarters in Fargo.
Sullivan has communications experience in print and broadcast mediums, developing copy for business articles as well as newspaper reports.
Before joining Ulteig, she was sales coordinator for John Deere Electronic Solutions in Fargo. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in professional journalism.
Johnson promoted to IT director at Wallwork
Wallwork Inc. has promoted Zachary Johnson to director of information technology. He was previously an information technology analyst.
Johnson lives in Mapleton, N.D., and is originally from Fargo. He attended North Dakota State University where he studied management information systems.
Lezlee Johnson hired as forestry specialist
Lezlee Johnson has been hired as a community forestry specialist for the North Dakota State University-North Dakota Forest Service by State Forester Larry Kotchman.
Johnson will work with communities and local units of government in management of their trees including Arbor Day celebrations, tree inventories and management plans, tree care workshops, grant programs and similar technical assistance.
She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in forestry and earned master and graduate degrees from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. Johnson was previously arboretum director at the Missouri Arboretum, and associate director for landscape services at NWSU.
She also has experience as a consulting forester and as a former district forester with the Missouri Department of Conservation, St. Joseph.
Kaiser promoted at Bell State Bank & Trust
Diane Kaiser has been promoted to senior vice president/enterprise risk management at Bell State Bank & Trust, 3100 13th Ave. S., Fargo.
Originally from Madison, S.D., she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Minnesota State University Moorhead and has 26 years of banking experience. Kaiser has been with Bell State Bank & Trust for 21 years.
Catholic Charities ND adds Retka to staff
Annie Retka has joined Catholic Charities North Dakota, Fargo, as an administrative assistant and receptionist.
Retka graduated from Valley City (N.D.) State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She previously worked for four years at Producers Financial Group as an internal wholesaler.

Shane Mercer has joined The Village Family Service Center in Fargo as a digital marketing specialist. The Village Business Institute, Fargo, has hired Trina D. Spaeth as an instructional designer.
Mercer received a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio University, Scripps School of Journalism. He was previously employed as a reporter and community content coordinator at The Forum.
Spaeth’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in communications/TV film from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master’s degree in education leadership/e-learning from North Dakota State University.
Bank Forward promotes Dana Parkhouse to VP
Dana Parkhouse has been promoted to vice president at the Bank Forward administration office, Fargo.
Parkhouse was previously the bank’s operations service manager and has been with Bank Forward for 20 years.
She is a graduate of Mayville (N.D.) State University and she lives in Casselton, N.D.

Rena Stenseth has joined Choice Financial in Fargo as director of human resources.
She was previously employed with Cornerstone Bank in Fargo as HR director for more than seven years.
Stenseth graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She also has a Professional in Human Resources designation and has attended the Graduate School of Banking Strategic HR Forum.
