Moorhead man's guilty plea ends federal drug trial

FARGO – The trial here for a Moorhead man charged in U.S. District Court with aiding and abetting a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and marijuana came to a stop Thursday when the defendant pleaded guilty.

The case against David R. Cerna Jr., 37, involved the transportation of methamphetamine from Texas to the Fargo-Moorhead area, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Fargo.

According to the state-ment, co-conspirators obtained large quantities of marijuana from the Twin Cities area and distributed it throughout the local area.

Cerna faces 10 years to life in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which said more than a dozen defendants have been convicted in association with the conspiracy.

Sentencing for Cerna is set for April 14.
