North Dakota curling team falls short of reaching playoffs

SEATTLE – Team North Dakota fell short of reaching the playoffs Thursday at the USA Curling Junior Nationals tournament.

Team North Dakota lost its final match 8-6 to a team from Dresher, Pa. – unable to become one of the top four teams to advance to the playoffs.

Team North Dakota finished with a 5-4 record tied for third place with a team from Malvern, Pa. The top four teams advancing are Dresher, Pa., Seattle, Southborough, Mass., and Duluth, Minn.

Playoffs begin today with the championship match scheduled for Saturday. The winning team qualifies for the World Junior Championships to be held Feb. 26 through March 5 in Switzerland.

Members of the Team North Dakota team are Branden Scheel, Tyler and Aaron Johnson and Hunter Dennison from Fargo Davies High School and Kyson Smith from Minot State University.
