United Way exceeds 2013 $5.2 million campaign goal

FARGO – The United Way of Cass-Clay announced this morning that it raised $5,353,617 in its 2013 fundraising campaign, exceeding the $5.2 million goal the agency had set for itself.

Sher Thomsen, president of the local United Way chapter, stressed that while the dollar numbers are important, it was important to remember that raising money by itself does not bring about change.

“Making smart, strategic investments, that’s what makes change and that’s what United Way is about,” Thomsen said, adding that community fundraising is only part of what the agency does.

“The other part, that’s so incredibly important, is that we work with partners, we work with agencies and programs and initiatives that change people’s lives,” Thomsen added.
