Letter: Install elevated I-94 roundabout

After reading about the proposed overpass on Interstate 94 and Eighth Street in Moorhead, I do have some concerns. With a light at each end of this bridge, there could be an increase of rear-end accidents as we know the bridge deck freezes faster than the roadway. A vehicle that fails to yield at the lights or slides into the intersection would be subject to a T-bone accident. What may be successful in Georgia may not be here.

My suggestion would be to install an elevated roundabout spanning I-94. In the United Kingdom, many large roundabouts are controlled with traffic lights to break up the flow and allow cross traffic to merge. In this case, the lights at 23rd Avenue and 30th Avenue would serve the same purpose.

There is a good example of what I suggest on the internet by going to Google Earth and typing stanstedairportstansted uk. With the truck stop on the left of the screen, you have a good example of at least three multilane structures.
