Letter: Preserving Welk farm worthwhileI would like to compliment The Forum editorial regarding the effort to save the Welk farm.
I am a native Virginian and have been fortunate to visit the restored homes and property of several U.S. presidents, as well as the home of the Rockefellers in Colonial Williamsburg.
I was in radio and television for 31 years and met and worked briefly with Lawrence Welk when he brought his show to our Civic Center in 1979. When you consider the impact he has had on the entertainment industry for many years, and the continuing popularity of his program on public television, I believe that the current movement to save the Welk farm in North Dakota is certainly a worthwhile effort, and I hope that it is successful.
