Former Visit Duluth president takes tourism job in St. PaulDULUTH - Terry Mattson, the former president of Visit Duluth, has a new job as president of Visit Saint Paul (Minn.) and the RiverCentre Authority starting Feb. 3.
The move led to Mattson’s wife, Renee, announcing her resignation this week as director of Spirit Mountain recreation area, effective at the end of May.
Terry Mattson resigned from Visit Duluth in December.
The chairman of the St. Paul search committee, Pat Harris, said candidates from across the country expressed interest in the job but Mattson’s experience, including 28 years in Duluth tourism, stood out.
Mattson said he didn’t expect to jump back into tourism so soon, saying when he resigned that he was going catch up on leisure activities.
Mattson said the ability to work in a “great city” like St. Paul changed his plans.
