Letter: Mayor Walaker an American heroAlthough I do not live in Fargo, I live in a nearby community on the east Minnesota side of the Red River of the North, and I would like to toss in my two cents’ worth on a real American hero, Dennis Walaker, who through his courage and leadership saved Fargo from the waters of floods. He was able to stand up to those voices urging complete evacuation of Fargo, and it was his faith in the goodness of God and the effectual planning efforts to deal with the flood that saved one of the cities I love most in the world, Fargo.
Fargoans should treasure his wisdom, his kindness, his far-sightedness and his love of the city of Fargo. The fact that he is on the board of the Hospice of the Red River Valley and the American Legion only makes me admire the man all the more. Those who work for the Hospice are doing God’s work on Earth and deserve all the help they can get.
Fargoans, vote for the good guy.
