Letter: Bring beauty to Fargo downtown

For years, we have been hearing that Fargo’s downtown area needs to be revitalized. We need to make it more appealing to visitors as well as our own community.

I don’t think the idea of building a monstrosity of a skyscraper is the answer. Why not build something that would bring beauty to downtown as well as entertainment? I think using this area to build a beautiful ice skating rink for the public would be wonderful. We could light up the huge evergreens already there, and the backdrop would be the Fargo Theatre marquee and all the lights on Broadway. This would not only bring more families to the downtown area but shoppers also. We could have our own mini “Rockefeller Center” right here.

With all the new restaurants opening downtown, it would be a great opportunity for new and existing businesses. I’m sure that in the summer months, a beautiful green area for outdoor music, food trucks and festivities also could be achieved.
