West Fargo grad rumored to be among semifinalists in next season of ‘American Idol’

WEST FARGO – A 2013 graduate of West Fargo High School has made it to the semifinals on “American Idol,” according to several blogs offering possible spoilers to the 13th season of the popular singing competition show.

AmericanIdolNet.com reported Jan. 10 that Andrina Brogden will be among the 31 semifinalists picked from auditions across the country who will advance to the next round of competition.

The new season of “American Idol” premieres Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. on Fox.

The Forum reached out to officials with the show, who said Brogden auditioned in Omaha, Neb., last summer. That particular audition won’t air until Jan. 30.

She found success even while in high school, playing on the softball team and appearing as the title role in her school’s production of “Cinderella.” She currently is a student at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Brogden also was among the 10 area high school students recognized during last year’s Celebration of Women and their Music, an annual event in Fargo started by Deb Jenkins.

Jenkins said Brogden is an “amazing” talent.

“She’s really, really, really, really good,” she said.

This wouldn’t be the first time a local singer has made it onto “American Idol.” Nick Fink and Caleb Hawley competed in 2011, and Jordin Sparks – whose mother was born in Grand Forks and great-grandfather lived in Fargo – won the show’s 2007 season.

Brogden told The Forum on Tuesday that she was unable to comment on “American Idol.”

But under her Twitter account, @DrinaMarie20, Brogden may have alluded to her success in the competition so far.

“I WANNA TELL THE WORLD!! But I can’t. BUT THEY ALREADY KNOW! But you still can’t. Shhh …” she wrote Jan. 7.
