Letter: Take critical look at ND educationI read The Forum editorial “Strength through partners,” and I fully agree.
I have been a fan of North Dakota State College of Science for most of the 10 years I have resided in this state. Forty percent of incoming freshmen at North Dakota State University are in remedial programs. These young folks belong in a trade-oriented school. Most of the NDSU students acquire meaningless degrees.
My plumber, who is also a heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor, told me that the trades of plumbing, air conditioning, electrical are unable to find and hire apprentices or journeymen in this area. The same applies to diesel engine technicians and control systems technicians.
I think that the field of primary education needs to be looked at and restructured.
