Former Vikings head coach Tice takes job with Falcons

Mike Tice was named offensive line coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

Tice was last offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears for three seasons and did not coach in the NFL last season. In three seasons with the Bears, where he was also in charge of the offensive line, Chicago allowed 149 sacks.

The Falcons fired Pat Hill and Paul Dunn, as well as defensive line coach Ray Hamilton, after finishing 4-12 in 2013.

Quarterback Matt Ryan was sacked 44 times last season and owner Arthur Blank said it was difficult at times to watch Ryan, signed for nearly $19 million per season last year, take such a beating.

Tice was an NFL tight end and has worked mostly as an offensive line coach. He was head coach of the Minnesota Vikings for four full seasons - and interim coach for one game before that - with a 32-33 overall record.
