Some downtown Fargo businesses without water after main breaksFARGO – A water main break, most likely caused by soil shifting in the extreme cold, will close off water to some downtown businesses Monday morning as crews work to repair the damage.
Fargo Public Works Services Manager Mark Williams said the break on Fourth Avenue North between Fourth and Fifth streets was discovered at about midnight.
No streets had to be closed, but the water main break spilled a great deal of water on the road, he said. Businesses along Fourth Avenue between Fifth Street and Broadway should expect their water to be turned off this morning as crews repair the break.
“We have a concrete breaker we use to chip away at the frost,” Williams said. “It’s cold out there.”
It is the second water main break since Friday that crews have responded to in Fargo, Williams said.
