Former Minneapolis Mayor Rybak hospitalized, tweets poetryMINNEAPOLIS -- Leave it to former Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak to provide an update about his chest pains and hospitalization on Twitter.
And to do it in poem form, no less.
“My cardiac surprise/ Gave me quite a start/ But it proves this politician/ Has a great big heart,” he tweeted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Rybak was cross-country skiing at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis when he experienced a shortness of breath and chest pains Saturday afternoon, according to a statement from Abbott Northwestern Hospital through Allina Health spokesman Tim Burke.
He was skiing for just less than 8 miles when the pain struck. Rybak was taken to the hospital by ambulance and hospitalized at about 1 p.m., according to Burke.
Rybak followed his Twitter poem with, “By the way the ski trails at Wirth are awesome today.”
Doctors performed several procedures, including an angioplasty and the insertion of two stents. He was resting “comfortably” with his family, the statement said.
No other information was expected to be released from the hospital Saturday.
Rybak, who served three terms as Minneapolis mayor, was replaced by Besty Hodges on Wednesday.
