Man struck by car while removing debris from roadVIRGINIA, Minn. – A Hibbing man who was trying to remove debris from a roadway was struck by a car Thursday night south of Virginia.
The Minnesota State Patrol said that just after 9:30 p.m., Bradley Belich, 19, was trying to remove a large piece of metal from a southbound lane on U.S. Highway 53 a quarter-mile north of the Minnesota Highway 135 junction. He was reported as seriously injured from being struck by a 2002 Saturn driven by a 20-year-old man from Eveleth, who was unhurt.
The State Patrol reported icy conditions on the highway at the time.
