Footprints in snow lead to burglary arrest

FARGO – A Fargo man was arrested following a burglary report early Wednesday morning and footprints from the scene led Fargo police to a suspect.

At 1:34 a.m., officers responded to a burglary in the 3000 block of Ninth Street North. According to police, officers noticed a door had been kicked in and the house ransacked.

Officers noticed footprints in the fresh snow and followed them to an apartment garage in the 2900 block of Seventh Street North, where they found a man who fled as officers approached.

A perimeter was set up to track the man and a search warrant was issued for an apartment and garage.

In searching the apartment, officers found Walter Ganyo in a back bedroom, police said.

Victims identified property found in Ganyo’s apartment as belonging to them.
