Fargo could see up to 3 inches of snow as windy storm system could hamper travel

FARGO — If you’re trying to get home for the holidays on Christmas Eve, WDAY meteorologist Aaron White warns that blowing snow could hamper your travels.

Starting this morning and ending in this evening, a fast-moving storm system is expected to drop 1 to 3 inches in Fargo and 2 to 4 inches in the Twin Cities, White said.

But the biggest concern for drivers will be winds of 10 to 25 mph that will blow snow and reduce visibility. White urged drivers to check road conditions before they head out.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that’s in effect from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Christmas Day forecast calls for cloudy skies and a few flurries with winds again in the 10-to-25-mph range. Travel should not be a problem that day, White said.
