Pedestrian killed while crossing Minnesota highwayDEER RIVER, Minn. – An Itasca County man died Friday after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Minnesota Highway 46.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Keith Rogers, 33, of Squaw Lake was trying to cross from east to west across the highway just after 8 p.m. when he was struck by a southbound Chevrolet van driven by Carl Fugleberg, 57, of Byron.
Rogers was transported to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids and died from his injuries. Fugleberg was not injured.
The patrol reported that alcohol was detected in Rogers’ system, but did not say if that was a factor in the accident. No alcohol was detected in Fugleberg’s system.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
