Mathieu scores 27 points as Gophers take down Omaha

MINNEAPOLIS – Deandre Mathieu scored 18 of his career-high 27 points in the second half as Minnesota extended its winning streak to five games by holding off pesky Nebraska-Omaha 92-79 in men’s basketball Friday.

Minnesota (10-2) also received 18 points and 10 rebounds from Andre Hollins and 19 points off the bench from Malik Smith, who shot 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Elliott Eliason contributed 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Austin Hollins had 10 points and six assists.
