Another gold coin found in Salvation Army red kettle in FargoFARGO – Another gold coin has turned up a Salvation Army red kettle.
An 1873 double eagle coin was deposited in the West Acres mall kettle Thursday, the Salvation Army said in a news release Friday.
The coin is valued at between $1,000 and 1,200.
Earlier this month, two 2008 Austria Philharmonic 1/10-ounce coins worth about $255 were donated, and last week, the Salvation Army announced a $1,200 South African krugerrand coin wrapped in a bill was found in a kettle for the 11th year in a row.
The Salvation Army is at about 50 percent of its nearly $1 million goal.
