No-cost resources for starting a small business

If you’re looking to start a small business, there are no-cost resources available to help.

Here are some of them:

• North Dakota Small Business Development Centers, of which there are several across the state.

The Fargo regional center can be reached by calling (701) 235-1495.

Again, sessions are available at no cost.

• SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business.

SCORE, which is sponsored in part by the Small Business Administration, uses the talents of retired businesspeople and offers free and confidential business advice.

There are North Dakota chapters in Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot.

To reach SCORE, contact Brittany Sickler, SBA economic development specialist, at (701) 239-5131.

• Women’s Business Center. The Center for Technology & Business is the North Dakota program for delivery of the SBA’s national Women’s Business Center effort, which provides training and resource to assist women who are current or potential business owners.
