Sioux Falls man arrested on suspicion of carjacking in WahpetonWAHPETON, N.D. — A 30-year-old Sioux Falls, S.D., man is in custody in Wilkin County, Minn., after an alleged carjacking here that led to a foot chase ending north of Breckenridge, Minn.
At 4:55 a.m. Saturday, the Wahpeton Police Department responded to a call from a Wahpeton resident stating that two people stole his van after threatening him with a knife.
Wahpeton police officers located the vehicle in the north side of the city and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The driver, who was alone, pulled into a dead end area and fled on foot.
Breckenridge and Wahpeton officers and deputies from the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office pursued the suspect on foot and were able to locate him north of Breckenridge.
When police caught up with the suspect, they found a knife close by in the snow.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the name of the man arrested. He is being held in the Wilkin County Jail awaiting formal charges.
