Letter: It’s no sweetheart deal in West FargoWest Fargo’s mayor and city council got the Cambria Hotel and convention center they wanted in the middle of single-family homes. As predicted in a previous letter to the editor, this brought Orange County, Florida’s most wanted fugitive accused of sexual battery of a child under the age of 10 and placed him next to Cheney Middle School. Was INS/ICE called to check the rest of the employees on the Cambria – bad neighbor site?
Driving by daily, you can’t help but notice the 30 or so out-of-state license plates on trucks parked on both sides of the street directly under the no-parking signs. Delivery trucks regularly park in the middle of the street, completely blocking emergency service vehicles and area residents.
With the accused pedophile, who has been deported three previous times, and the total disregard for traffic safety laws, you have to wonder what kind of sweetheart deals were made regarding building and fire codes so West Fargo could get its convention center.
This is not a “not in my backyard” letter. Just 100 yards east of the Cambria and all its problems is the construction site of a good neighbor, the Blarney Stone restaurant. They don’t block the street and have not had any pedophile arrests. I am looking forward to the Blarney Stone opening.
