Two crew members weren't on train as it derailed

TWO HARBORS, Minn. - Two of the four crew members on the Canadian National train that derailed in Two Harbors were not aboard when it left the tracks, a CN spokesman said.

The two crew members who were injured were in the lead locomotive long enough to pull the emergency brake, but Patrick Waldron, a spokesman for the railway, said how they left the train — and when — was still being looked into.

“We can’t give you a sequence (of events),” Waldron said. “That is part of our investigation.”

The two other uninjured crew members remained on the train in one of the four other locomotives at the head of the train.

The track was reopened over the weekend.
