Bemidji truck driver killed in crash with Amtrak train
BEMIDJI, Minn. – A Bemidji semi driver was killed Friday in a collision with an Amtrak train.
Donald Ray Hedlund Sr., 57, was driving a 2011 Kenworth flatbed tractor-trailer in Fawn Lake Township in Todd County around 2:30 p.m. when he failed to stop at a train crossing, according to a report by the St. Cloud Times. Road conditions were not a major factor in the crash.
Hedlund was pronounced dead at the scene. Two Amtrak passengers were reported to have been taken to Lakewood Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. Several other passengers reportedly had minor injuries and were not hospitalized.
