Fire heavily damages downtown Fosston businesses, apartmentsFOSSTON, Minn. – A late-night fire Sunday heavily damaged a building that houses Fosston Chiropractic Clinic and three residential apartments in downtown Fosston.
The fire alarm sounded at about 10:35 p.m. Sunday, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
When the Fosston Fire Department arrived a short time later, the upper portions of the brick building were engulfed in flames, according to the report.
The roof of the building collapsed onto the second floor of the building, according to Fosston Fire Chief Jim Aagenes. All residents of the three apartments were reported to be accounted for and safe.
Heavy smoke and water damage was reported in Fosston Chiropractic Clinic, which occupies the main floor, as well as two adjacent businesses, an insurance agency and a barber shop, according to Fosston Fire Department.
The fire is under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fosston is a city of about 1,500 people in Polk County about 45 miles west of Bemidji.
